Christian BBS networking for Africa

BBSs (Bulletin Board Services) are an intermediate technology solution to the electronic communications needs of churches, NGOs, CBOs (community-basted organizations) and other groupos who cannot afford a full internet connection. A BBS does not need the latest and greatest computer, and can be run adequately on a hand-me-down computer donated by a business that is upgrading.

It is thus comparatively easy to set up one's own BBS, which is almost like running one's own ISP, but much cheaper. The links on this page will give more information on how you can call an exisiting BBS, or set up your own. It is possible, though BBS networks, to link up with Internet newsgroups and mailing lists as well.
